What is the impact of Spectre and Meltdown?
Let’s talk what Spectre and Meltdown impact. I assume that you have all heard the turmoil that these bugs (design flaws) in CPU’s from Intel, AMD and those based on the ARM framework has caused in the Information Technology world. The short of it is that all systems (devices) that have any of those CPU’s have a potential to give up valuable information to hacking software that has gotten onto your device.
What to Do (or not to do) about it.
It is essential to make sure that you are running the latest upgrade or maintenance releases of the operating systems and firmware that you are using. Operating System examples are Windows, Mac OS, iOS, Android and firmware examples are the software running on your routers, cable modems.
It is better to wait a day or two after the upgrades or maintenance releases come out before applying them since some of those updates have caused problems. One example is Microsoft release Windows OS updates which “bricked” AMD based devices. Bricking means that your devices are completely inoperable.
Our Computer Services are designed to help you through situations like this and will give you the peace of mind that your business and/or home system(s) are optimally setup and maintained.
